History
The first Bojangles was founded in 1977 in Charlotte. Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas established it. The company was acquired by Horn & Hardart in 1981. Over the course of their nine years as owners, they expanded the chain to over 300 sites, many of which are located in Florida thanks to an acquisition of a smaller competitor.
A fast food industry veteran bought it back in 1990 and took over as CEO. A short time later, the store was purchased once more, and during the next two decades, it went through several different owners. Over that time period, the network expanded to more than eleven states.
They opened their 300th restaurant in 2003, and in 2008, the Wall Street Journal praised their success. There were approximately 600 Bojangles restaurants in the United States as of 2015, and the chain has expanded internationally to places including Mexico, China, and Ireland. In truth, Honduras still has several surviving establishments.
Over the years, the restaurant’s menu has undergone very minor adjustments. Some new options, such as boneless chicken, have been introduced. Famous fried chicken and other southern staples like red beans and dirty rice take up the bulk of the menu.
