History of Blake’s Lotaburger

After serving in World War II, Blake Chanslor started Blake Lotaburger. After the war he relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he opened the store’s first location in 1952. The project’s San Mateo, southeast Albuquerque location and his modest $5,300 investment made it a good choice. In 1953, they added two more stations.

As a result of Chanslor’s efforts, the restaurant chain is now present in 23 New Mexico municipalities, with 7 locations serving the Four Corners region and 35 locations serving the Albuquerque metropolitan area. Up until 2003, Chanslor was the sole owner of the restaurant chain; he then sold the business to Ronald C. Rule and his son, Brian. A total of 75 Lotaburger restaurants were under the company’s control before 2018.

Since its inception, Blake’s Blake’s Lotaburger Breakfast Menu in New Mexico has been a proud sponsor of the state’s Special Olympics. This year’s Special Olympics season will be the 22nd year in the organization’s existence.
